Transformation of the Day: Amber lost 55 pounds with healthy food and fitness. She was tired of being uncomfortable and tired of feeling like the “fat friend”. Following the Weight Watchers plan, she used portion control and food tracking to get awesome results.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I was tired of being the fat friend. I was tired of always being uncomfortable. I was tired of the way my clothes fit and not recognizing myself in the mirror. I had always been overweight, but this was a completely new body that I wasn’t used to.

When I want to give up, I look at the progress I’ve made. I also think about the people who following my journey on Instagram and holding me accountable.

How did you change your eating habits?
I tracked my foods using Weight Watchers. After months of being on Weight Watchers, I found myself eating more lean meats, vegetables, and high protein foods. Also, weighing my food and portion control helped significantly.

What did your workout routine consist of?
I work out 3-5 times a week. Initially, I did a lot of group classes like Zumba. After the Covid-19 Pandemic hit, I turned to running and doing bodyweight exercises. I also found accountability partners in my co-workers. We would work out together. When we couldn’t work out in person, we would FaceTime or check in with each other.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 233 pounds. My current weight is 178 pounds.

Amber before and after

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I began in June 2019, but I was very inconsistent. I lost ten pounds between June and December 2019, falling off the wagon basically every month. In January 2020, I became intentional about food tracking and exercise. I told myself, “Imagine what could happen if you didn’t give up.”

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Progress > Perfection. Each day is a new day. It took time for me to learn bad habits, so it’s going to take time to learn good habits.

What advice would you like to share with people who want to lose weight?
Just keep going. If you slip up, keep going. Every single day is a new day and a new chance to reach your goals. The time is going to go by whether you eat healthy or not.
